Combining Entrepreneurship with Motherhood
Aside from women who have had careers all their lives, often, women take up the entrepreneurial challenge because they are home with small children. They know they want to do something in addition to child rearing, but they do not what, since it is not feasible to go out to work at a job. Becoming involved with some type of business can be the perfect arrangement, since there are many opportunities for women to stay right at home and begin their adventures. Today, with such modern conveniences of the internet, it is much easier for females to succeed in combining entrepreneurship with motherhood. Leaving the home to conduct business is not always necessary anymore.
Online businesses offer the greatest potential for women with children. Whether an online presence is an adjunct to any existing service business or is a complete online business model, women can make productive use of tools such as email, VOIP telephone, videos, online seminars and tutorials, business model blueprints, forum support, and contract workers, if help is needed. Most of these expenses traditionally have been very expensive. But now, costs can be greatly reduced, and many applications are free, so women can take advantage of newer technologies to build themselves a nice income combining entrepreneurship with motherhood.
Depending on the age of the children, it will still be hard work to balance learning and running a new business with the daily demands of the children, but still, as I have already recommended, if you block out specific times of the day to work, you will see results from your efforts. Certainly, organization and determination will be important factors in your success, but really, if you can organize your time wisely, this is a huge benefit, because you will also be able to effectively organize your tasks. Routine is everything in business, and this is where women combining entrepreneurship with motherhood is a definite advantage.
Interestingly, if your children are a little older, they may even help with your business. Today, most classrooms have computers, and thus, children are taught at early ages how to use a keyboard. Many who have computers in their homes become wizards at creating websites and understanding social media. It is second nature to many children now. And, you can really capitalize on this by getting their help. Have them setup your Twitter or Facebook page for you. Even if you decide to start a business that requires inventory, children can help by packing boxes and completing tasks according to their age bracket.
For women who already had thriving businesses before children came along, they needed to adapt to their lifestyle changes. They might have decided to bring the baby along for various hours during the day, or they may have learned to conduct more business through a home office instead. While I recognize that change does require a period of growth, and acceptance of the new situation, it is also a time to reflect on more effective ways of doing business. In fact, children can be an advantage to finding new ways to do things. By combining entrepreneurship with motherhood, women often remark that they are much more productive in their business dealings.
